International tourism to Australia

Tourism is one of Australia’s largest export industries, accounting for 10% of Australia’s total export receipts (2016–17). In the year ending March 2018, international visitor arrivals reached over 9 million for the first time, while spend exceeded $40 billion. China is Australia’s largest and highest spending inbound market, having overtaken New Zealand in visitor numbers in 2018.

Tourism Research Australia produces quarterly results from the International Visitor Survey, as well as trends and forecasts of international visitor activity.
