NEW SOUTH WALES REGIONAL TOURISM SATELLITE ACCOUNT

Tourism directly contributed more than $13.9 billion to New South Wales’ economy (Gross State Product), and directly employed around 159,000 people in 2013–14.

NATIONAL VISITOR SURVEY (NVS) RESULTS

NVS results for year ending June 2016 show:

    • domestic overnight trips up 7% to a record 88.9 million; nights up 5% to 328 million; and spend up 6% to a record $59 billion.
    • domestic day trips up 11% to a record 187 million; spend up 7% to a record $19.6 billion.

INTERNATIONAL VISITOR SURVEY (IVS) RESULTS

IVS results show:

    • international visitor numbers increased 10% to 7.2 million
    • nights increased 5% to 248 million
    • spend increased 14% to $38.1 billion

STATE TOURISM FORECASTS 2016

The State and Territory Tourism Forecasts 2016 highlights the distribution of tourism visitor nights in Australia to 2024–25.
